little birdie is attracted

to colorful flowers

there’s a new scent in the garden

little birdie

glides over

his beak gently prods the crevice

of the delicate flower

the flower shyly acknowledges

the new visitor

slowly she opens her petals

they sway

they dance

the afternoon away

they met in an old way

have all of my nectar

the flower says

little birdie has it’s fill

ready to drunkenly fly away

little birdie

pleads the flower

don’t go away

it’s only natural

little

birdie

flies

away
