who celebrates the motherless

with no wedding ring

not her parents or siblings

but don’t you dare skip a bridal, baby shower

god forbid the wedding thing

birthdays, anniversaries, trips

year after year

gifts, smiles, hugs, and kisses

joyful, proud, cheer, cheer, cheer

you have nothing to celebrate

not a thing to show

no husband, no kids

no shower, no ring

no cake, no cards, no flowers

a big nothing
