Will we, the citizens, the children, ever make it to the big people’s table?
This question occurred to me while trying, and failing, to ignore the Epstein debacle. One side is adamant that Trump is implicated and that is the reason he’s not releasing the files. The other side, and some of us in the middle, say, “Release the files. No one is above the law.”
I understand the logic of the latter. But the first? Really? If Trump was implicated—and he may be—why didn’t the Democrats use that against him during the campaign? They threw everything at him, including the kitchen sink. He was arrested, booked, and had his mugshot taken. Trump is a felon, and many label him a rapist, although he’s never been convicted.
Imagine what it would have done to the Trump campaign if the files were released and there was evidence that he was a pedophile.
But I don’t recall any Democrat urging the release of the files. Not one. Not even during the years they controlled the Department of Justice.
(Unless I’m wrong. I’d genuinely like to be corrected.)
Being the consummate politician and showman, Trump implied he would release the files. And now? Nothing. Get over it, people. Nothing to see. No list. Nada.
I know I’m not alone in thinking that if one card falls, the whole house collapses. I believe many powerful people are on “the list.” But how often are the most powerful, the most connected, the wealthiest ever truly made to pay for their crimes?
And so our leaders, those allowed to sit at the big people’s table, are spinning the narrative, all the while ignoring their own missteps and hypocrisy. And we, the people, are influenced by it all.
Who is pointing out the hypocrisy of the Democrats urging the release of files under the newly appointed DOJ when they never made the same demand while their party was in power?
I can say that I see many in the MAGA group pressuring Trump to do as he implied during his campaign. However, Trump is concerned with payback for the Russia hoax, his felony convictions, and so on.
But wait, there’s breaking news. Trump is suggesting Pam Bondi should release “whatever she thinks is credible.” Haha, yeah right. They will give us crumbs, and we will be forced to move on.
When will we, as the majority, regardless of race, creed, color, or party, understand that it is us against them? The powerless against the powerful. At the end of the day, they will protect their own interests. They will protect their own.
I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes:
“For the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house. They may allow us to temporarily beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change.”
Although Audre Lorde was speaking in reference to racism and homophobia particularly, I believe this quote applies to all that the masters created and controlled.
Are we truly capable of ever dismantling the master’s house? Will we ever change the rules so that we are truly represented?
When will we ever sit at the big people’s table?
