Last night, I watched a French film without subtitles. The only words I understood were the salutations and “Tu veux du jus d'orange?” Otherwise, it was lovely to get lost in the music, to look for clues in the characters’ eyes, facial expressions, and body language, and ultimately, to make up my own story.

True to form, I couldn’t stay up to finish it. I hope to do so today.

Instead, I turned off the TV and opened the doors and shutters so I could listen to the rain and watch it fall until I drifted to sleep.

It was lovely. I thought to note this.
